Catherine McAuley

In 1827 Catherine McAuley opened a house to help the poor in Baggot Street, Dublin, Ireland. She and her companions conducted a school, visited the sick, provided child care, sheltered the homeless and provided training for unemployed young women. ... Catherine believed in the education of women.

Catherine Macauley dedacated her life in helping the poor for the greater good and later founded the Mercy Sisters
